INVESTING IN ART .. IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS. – INVIRTIENDO EN ARTE..EN EL TIEMPO DEL CORONAVIRUS.

Without a doubt, the coronavirus has come to mark a before and after in world art. Museums, galleries and artists have had to modify their strategy of displaying works and interacting with spectators. But what about investing in art at a time like this? Is this possible to do?

We have to base ourselves on a special premise from the beginning, this premise that we must keep in mind is that although Art does not fall into the category of essential goods for human survival, it gives it like any manifestation of art (music, lyrics, architecture , photography) a unique meaning to human existence that the animals of the nature that surround us cannot create in their mind.

We have observed that throughout the centuries after wars, natural disasters or pandemics, humanity has preserved its cultural richness in its works of art, buildings, literature and music.

If we have a certain margin of investment in art in these times, it is healthy to compare the prices of artists and establish a safe investment route, understanding and knowing the artist’s career. Surely there will be artists whose market has been drastically reduced but that does not mean that their creativity capacity has been reduced, on the contrary, many artists have developed more creative work in the time of the pandemic, therefore the assessment cannot only go in related to the closure of galleries or museums representing an artist. If his/her background as an artist has remained stable for a certain time, it is very certain that whatever happens, this artist will have a place in the country’s art history.

The investment in art should not be seen as a mere opportunity to search for low prices or clearance, but rather to find a point where the collector finds his collectible and can visualize that work in the future as a personal investment of great satisfaction.
