3 MANERAS DE CUIDAR UNA OBRA DE ARTE – 3 WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF ARTWORK

The works of art, although their pigments guarantee a duration for centuries under normal conditions of exhibition, it is necessary to take certain measures to guarantee their perfect conservation in time.

  1. Lighting
Adequate lighting is the first factor to preserve painting. Artificial lighting with a direct high intensity reflector could affect the most sensitive pigments in time. Likewise, a high-brightness LED type light has been discovered that can chemically affect some pigments, we recommend placing a soft light with a distance greater than 50 cm from the work at an angle that controls the entire work.
  2. Humidity
Humidity is the content of water vapor present in the air, extreme external humidity affects any layer of paint, it is important to place the paint in environments where there is not excessive humidity (swimming pools, steam baths, river banks or snow).
  3. Sun
However resistant or professional the pigments for the work of art are, they will always suffer deterioration if there is prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, so it is advisable not to place the paint directly exposed to the sun.
